im having a fourth back surgery next week and im getting my hair cut. my face shape is square but kinda oval too. my hair is dark brown and im thinking to get my hair cut like victoria beckham. where its longer in the front and shorter in the back. im debating what i want to do. i like the style, but i dont know how it will look on me. it would be managable for my upcoming surgery and post surgery. i realize its kinda hard to say because you dont know what i look like, but any feedback is greatly appreciated. thanks!

For a special occasion I would go clip ons. Have a colorist match your exact color and level PRIOR to you purchasing the hair. For the best results also have them do your hair for the party. Why spend the money on good hair and have the style look like poo because of poor placement? Best of luck.

I really depends on how you plan on installing the extensions.

The shortest your hair can be to glue (use liquid GOLD bond) in extensions is about 1/2-1" but you have to be very careful not to have the weft show...these can last from a few hours to up to a week. With Lquid Gold you can also do indivdual bonding which is meant for hair that's at least 4" long. To remove use the Liqud Gold bond remover...this is the one of the easiest ways to do extensions.

For clip-ins your hair should be be from 3-5" this is the simplest installation/removal, part hair and clip in...un clip and slide out.. You cannot swim or wash your hair with these in.

For microlinks/linkies, you hair should be at least 3" for the wefted kind and at lest 5" for the induvidual kind. You thread your hair through the linkie and then clamp with pliers...to remove, you open the link with and opening tool and slid of your hair. These last up to 6 months with a touch up about every 2 months depending on how fast your hair grows.

For fusion/keratin bond, your hair has to be at least 5" long. You're basically fusing extension hair to your hair using a hot adhesive. It takes at least 3 hours to do a whole head but it can last from 3-6 months and usually requires acetone to break down the bond.

There's also ways of sewing in extensions which ususally requires the natural hair to be cornrowed as the base and the a net is sewn over that and the wefted hair is sewn over that. Needs to be touched up as hair grows.

Since you are going to different places, it probably won't matter. Dying your hair first might be better because they need to wash your hair, so then when you get your hair cut, you won't have to get it washed again (that is really bad to wash your hair twice in one day, bad for natural oils in your hair)

You can do a bob. I don't think you have the right face shape for a pixie cut or a blunt cut. You might also have to experiment with combo cuts that mix elements of different styles.

Try and google the websites where you can upload your picture and try different cuts. My computer hates me right now, I wouldn't go so short... Maybe sholder length with long layers in the back. I would also frame the front towards your face with the layers starting at your jaw line going down.

My hair is currently very simple and rather boring if you ask me. It's down to my hips, and straight cut with bangs down to my neck and it's natural color: a darker variety of dirty blonde. It's been like that for years, and I want to do something different with it, but I can't decide what. Why don't you put light to medium blond highlights in your hair to lighten it for the summer and as far as the cut goes, a couple inches past your shoulders, with layers, parted to the side would probably look best with a round face. Good luck!

I'm a 55 year old young looking red hair ,green eyes.I have a square jaw and I would like my hair cut or grown out like Tom Cruise wife.It would be a wavy layerd bob I guess.I want something easy.I had a shaggy cut with bangs,i'm now trying to grow out my bangs but don't know if i should part them or what.anyone have any suggestions?

i think a style like tom cruises wife (katie holmes) would suit you. it really suits people with a square jaw as it kind of balances the face out. you will need to grow out your bangs but while you are doing this you can clip them to the side with bobby pins or nice clips. just part them in the middle and clip back. it shouldnt take too long to grow them out as the style you want is only short.

take a picture to your hairdresser and tell her and she should be able to advise you further. also she can advise you on what products to use in your hair to stop it going frizzy which can easily happen with this style. you should use something like tigi bedhead serum (it comes in a bright pink bottle) to stop it frizzing up. i have a similar style but i straighten my hair so it is more like victoria beckhams and even mine can frizz up if i dont use serum on it.

yes it's true. i'm in the air force and was at Sheppard AFB for training and there was quite a few Navy girls right out of boot camp and they all had the same haircut. Take everyone's advice and get it cut before you go because the people who cut your hair there (I don't dare call them hair stylists) don't do a good job at all. it's very choppy looking.

Sounds like you have a specific salon picked out already, but here is my suggestion anyways:

go on Yahoo's main search engine and look up local salons in your area and find on the main search results page the reviews of those places. Find one with great reviews (unless you're happy with where you're going to)... that to me is the most important part... next, if you want to find a style go through tons of fashion type magazines and look at celebrities with your face shape and see what looks good on them...

Also, I just went and had my hair cut/styled and highlighted and when she asked what I wanted I told her I didn't know and asked what she would suggest with my skin color and face shape and it is perfect. The place I go to is a really nice salon, so I trust her judgment. That's why I told you that you should research good salons in your area...

I went to a new hair dresser for color three weeks ago, and walked out with about 5 inches cut off the top layer of my previously one-length hair. Went back for a fix and it was even worse, finally went to someone else who managed to even it out but says I'll just have to wait for the "layer" to grow out. well...that happened to me once too. thie first thing is that YOU CANT GET STRESSED OUT! that makes it worse! you have to stay "calm" and think that its ONLY HAIR and that it WILL grow back SOONER THAN YOU THINK! and a way to style it, is straighten it and wear it down, maybe with a cute stylish headband, you can wear it half up half down, and maybe even curl a couple of pieces. im pretty sure it'll work! i hope i helped!

having lots of layers is very 'in' at the moment.

you are able to keep your long hair, but you get shorter bits as it goes up, this means you can spike or fluff it up for volume.

with the fringe, depending on what shape face you have, you could go for a full block fring or a bang [sweeping fringe] but that should be considered with mates and what not to decide what would suit your face better.

It could be that your hair is just naturally wavy like that.

But you can also use a round bristle brush to curl them in. Or try a straightening iron to flatten out the tips.

Basically I've had a run of funky spikey hair cuts which look pretty good but I always have to take a picture of a male haircut and get my hairdresser to make it feminine which feels wierd. And I run the risk of ending up looking like a boy (which I have done when I was younger!!)

a faux hawk is not a coloring technique it is a hair cut. :) Faux hawks look really cute on girls, but you have to be willing to style it everyday. As for the coloring its not a guy technique.. coloring is the same for girls and guys :)

That sort of haircut would require more attention than it looks. If you have thick hair and you cut it that short than it might get frizzy or poof out more than you want to get that look. Also yes, it would be in your face unless you get hairclips to hold it back. And third, if your face is round that sort of hair cut wouldn't work well becuase it will make a round face even rounder.

Also, if you are in sports, it sucks to have short hair because it's always in your face and blocks your vision. I would keep it long, but... changes are good. it won't go straight enough to look tidy, and it's to wavy to look good, i.e. the curls aren't small enough. i work in an office and need to look professional

is there anything i put in my hair to make it look a bit tidier, or tighten up those curls a bit? if i gel it, it goes in big clumps, and bits still stick out unless I use ALOT of curls but i don't want to look like John Travolta in Grease.

At the same time I don't want to have to cut it every 8 weeks. Maybe I could invest in electric clippers?

Well, getting your hair done is a huge step. I say do a drastic change in the length of your long brown hair. You should go for a classic look, cut your hair up to about your ear length. Don't wash your hair for about 5 to 5 and a half weeks. This will bring out the natural oils. Your wavy hairy will benefit from it.

Well it's difficult without seeing you, but a few pointers,

oval faces suit most styles, jaw length, shorter etc, so that's a plus.

If you're happy with the current style, just get a trim to keep it healthy.

If you're hair is fine, get a volume adding cut, eg blunt, cut straight across, ask for some mousse product to increase shape and volume.

If you have a larger forehead, a fringe might be an idea, it can be thick or delicate, pushed to one side.

The best thing you can do is flick through some hair magazines and have a chat with the stylist.

Try not to be afraid of a haircut. Haircuts can be the start of something really good for you. a lot of people are afraid of haircuts however you have to sometimes just do it! I know it is hard to pick out a haircut but you and only you can make that choice. I think you should go out to the wig store and try on a couple of wigs that are in different styles to see what would look good on you. there is also a web site that kind of does the same thing.(I'm not totally sure of the web site (sorry).

If you are confident in your hairstylist and you know he or she would not steer you wrong,then be strong and confident in yourself to rock a new haircut.

I also have a round face, and they say it's not good to have a short cut with that shape face... I would love to have mine cut short, and like you say the crazy rock style , but I'm afraid it would just make my face look rounder and maybe fat.. I do have a medium cut , I call it a chop cut, with several colors .. I do get a lot of compliments on it.. But I see the shorter cuts , that I wish would look good on myself.. Just not willing to give it a try quite yet . LOL

i think the lighter color goes better with your skin tone, the dark was a little too harsh.

i think about 2 inches past shoulder length would suit you well.

The side bangs look the best. Try side bangs, with the brown with reddy highlights, and a longer hair style with layers then curl it. That always looks good. Hope this helps!

How about layers and a subtle fringe? The jaw length bob was in fashion the other month and may still be. Why don't you ask your stylist? I usually go in and say what I want and then they do something different which looks better than the style I wanted.

If you have faith in the ability of your hairdresser, tell them you're bored and fancy a change and see what they suggest. As long as you make it clear that you don't want too much of the length etc. it should be fine. I love getting my hair done at the Toni and Guy academy because it's cheap, even though the person doing the cut might be inexperienced they are supervised by excellent tutors, and you never quite know what style you're going to end up with.

Dude, DO NOT perm your hair. Me and my mom permed our hair in the summer, and ever since, our hair falls out. Like when I'm in the shower and would run my finger through my hair to get the shampoo or conditioner out, a bunch of my poor hair comes out ): So yeah.

#1. You should NEVER get your hair permed and colored in the same day and any hairstylist that would do that should be fired from her job! Your hair will be so damaged that could fall out!

#2. Dont get a perm. If your want some loose curls in your hair use a bigger barrel curling iron.

You have to be really careful with perms. Your hair really does fall out. I've had my hair permed once a year for six years now and it's starting to scare me. I'm thinking about growing it out because of that, but I don't know what I'm going to do with it when half of it is curly and the other half is straight. It's going to be a mess.

Highlights and perms both stress out your hair. My hair breaks easily anyways, so I would never even consider doing both at the same time, let alone on the same day. Whatever you decide just be careful.

You are gorgeous. You shouldn't worry too much. I think you should just layer your hair and maybe get your eyebrows shaped differently too. You were talking about not liking that your face looks long, so if you cut your hair it will make your face seem shorter. I personally like long hair, so I wouldn't but it's good to know.
